Here’s the company I’ve experienced of that’s actually doing something new with COVID-19 pandemic. In further articles, I will dissect the different ways that people will be able to make their argument more persuasive.

Let’s deep into Korean industries how they stand to benefit from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic is already ushering in a host of challenges to Korean industrial manufacturers, especially those that depend on workers whose jobs cannot be carried out remotely. That means most of manufacturers will have a financial impact on their business.

However, there’s no stopping warehouse automation.

Already in full force before COVID-19 came out, the push to automated warehouses and distribution centers is expected to pick up as more companies look for ways to manage social distancing rules, remote work-forces and other new challenges.

Here is a video that represents one of the biggest material handling companies in Korea.

According to this video, Hyundai Movex has been successfully performing potential system engineering in domestic and overseas logistics automation field for more than 30 years. They specialize a total moving solution provider that offers comprehensive engineering solutions for optimal supply. These range from providing consultations, designs as well as manufacturing and installation of automated material handling systems to maintenance and modernization.

Mainly, they are handling freezing/cooling, tire, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, distribution/parcel service, clothing, general manufacturing, process logistics, automobile, airport logistics, and hospital logistics.

Before launching their projects, they use the simulation model to perform optimization experiments and services the following solutions for supply chain optimization.

  • Production and distribution planning to meet mid-to-long-term forecast demand
  • Supply chain optimization by product life cycle
  • Setting the safe stock level for demand forecast failure(Statistical approach)
  • Energy consumption optimization
  • Understand Flexibility(Location and Space suitability), Agility(Demand variation) and Adaptability(Material flow).

These characteristics required for system innovation by production, storage and logistics processes are flexibility, agility, and adaptability. Based on this, they conduct scientific and quantitative simulation experiments and statistical analysis in the As-Is, To-Be analysis.

I will dig into in details of Hyundai Movex from next session.
